OX to ZERO Solutions Summit

Oxfordshire’s world-leading solutions to reaching net zero

It’s clear we must make significant changes to address the effects of climate change.

The inaugural OX to ZERO explored how innovation can help the world to net zero, faster.

From bacteria that eat carbon, to drastically more effective solar power, to electrically powered flight, to fusion power breakthroughs – innovation is central to meeting the climate challenge.

On 1 September OX to ZERO bought together Oxfordshire’s most innovative thinkers, investors and entrepreneurs at a new one day event exploring the potential of new ideas, technologies and companies to accelerate the net zero transformation.

Oxford is world-famous for research excellence and home to some of the most talented people from across the globe. Our work helps the lives of millions, solving real-world problems through a huge network of partnerships and collaborations. The breadth and interdisciplinary nature of our research sparks imaginative and inventive insights and solutions.

UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) carries out fusion energy research on behalf of the UK Government.

Fusion could be transformative for energy supply: near-limitless fuel, low carbon, safe, and sustainable for the long term.

UKAEA’s mission is to lead the delivery of fusion energy and maximise the scientific and economic benefit.

At Harwell we like big ideas. But more than that, we like to give our people the facilities, support and infrastructure to use those ideas to make a real difference. From the tailors who stitch the cloth to wrap satellites to the research groups investigating llama nanobodies to help fight viruses, our people are what define Harwell’s success. Alongside scientific innovation, we believe in the power of collaboration and the cross-pollination of ideas to solve the problems facing our world today.

It is our role to champion Oxfordshire’s economic potential, acting as a catalyst and convener to drive a dynamic, sustainable and growing economy.

We have so far secured around £1billion-worth of investment for Oxfordshire, leveraging new opportunities that will benefit the county’s businesses and communities for many years to come, including supporting the drive to towards a cleaner, more sustainable future for us all.
